GSC Loot – New Arrivals

dsc00782

FINALLY!! My long awaited Unity Mei.  Just received her in the mail today along with Konjiki no Yami and a couple other figures.  And I was slapped in the face with a $51 tax and customs fee, yet again…

dsc00754

Unity Mei (or May) was supposed to be released back in February but the release date was pushed back to March, and again to April when it was finally released.  I’m happy that she finally arrived.  ^^

dsc00758

The box she comes in is quite big compared most other figures.

dsc00760

Didn’t know assembly was required…

dsc00761

Didn’t expect her to come in pieces like this.

dsc00765

She’ll definitely be the next figure to be reviewed.

dsc00764

Yummmm…yellow pantsu…first in my collection.  ^^

dsc00767

Hmm…I’ve noticed that Lala’s hat is very versatile, and will fit many figures who have a removable hat type headgear.

dsc00770

But Unity May’s hat is more fitting.  ^^  Watching lucky star while I’m writing this…just lol’d at the ED of episode 16.  ^^;;

dsc00771

Her cape was one of the main reason I bought Unity May!  It adds a “punch” to the already dynamic figure.

dsc00775

With the arrival of Unity May and Konjiki no Yami, the favourite figures list have been shuffled…once again.

dsc00779

This picture turned out really well.  Almost fitting for a figure review.  ^^

dsc00783

Upon hearing the arrival of a couple new gals, Kyon couldn’t help but give us a “sneak peek”.  ^^;;;

dsc00784

Hmm…I should start doing a “Kyon cam” edit to these photos.

dsc00786

Konjiki no Yami, another one of my pre-orders that have been delayed…reaking havoc on my credit card bill this month.

dsc00787

I’ve been buying a lot of Good Smile releases recently.  My total GSC scaled figure count sits at 13 at the moment, with Max Factory and MegaHouse sitting at a distant second and third respectively.  Not that it’s a bad thing to have too many GSC release. ^ ^

dsc00789

Yami-chan is my favourite girl from To Love-ru, she’s so cute when she’s blushing. ^^

dsc00790

I’ve read that many collectors are displaying her with her “slicer”, and I’m no different.  She definitely looks more lethal that way…just wondering why they didn’t give Yami-chan the “slice” treatment on her left hand as well…

dsc00795

Queen’s Gate Alice still sits on top on my favourites list, but Unity Mei flew into second place, and Konjiki no Yami sliced her way into third place.  Unity Mei might sneak pass Alice after a review…

dsc00796

Love how her hair is sculpted.  It adds a level of dynamism to the figure on top of creating a matching pair with Lala.  Everyone loves matching pairs, right? ^^

dsc00797

Kyon heads over for another “sneak peak”…

dsc00798

Kyon didn’t realize who she was…

dsc00801

Bad move Kyon…bad move…

dsc00803

I bought the GSC Lala Satalin Deviluke because I pre-ordered Yami-chan.  Lala is a beautiful figure in her own right…and I still need to do a Lala review that’s long overdue.  ^^;;;;;;;

This leads to my question of the day.  Which company released the majority of your scaled figure collection?  Pre-orders does not count.  Sorry if I missed any companies.  ^^;

    Nice loot! Almost all of my figures are from alter.

      Ooo…The only Alter release I have is Rei New Movie Ver. I have a couple more Alter figures on pre-order, definitely one of the best figure manufacturers out there.

    I’m a big fan of Alter. I even bought that Enma Ai that I don’t know anything about and never seen the anime, but Alter made it look so good that I can’t help but get it. Same with the Saber Maid, she’s my favourite figure EVER!

    That Unity May is quite tempting, especially the casted off version ^_^ It must be the thigh highs…

    And hmm… most of the GSC poses for their figures look very similar, don’t they ^^;

      An Alter fan you are. ^^ Yummy, thigh highs. You know what, I didn’t take notice of her thigh highs until you mentioned it. Her cape caught most of my attention. ^^;

      They got very similar poses. I guess “standing on one leg” is all the hype in the figure world these days…

      • 5 lightningsabre 05/08/2009 at 02:22

        The string pantsu also caught my attention… because of the manga “Sundome” I have this thing about string pantsu now. Thigh high + string pantsu… Jeez do I have to buy this now???

        I guess the “standing on one leg” thing is to impress the collectors that “yes, we can get away with this pose because we improved on the materials that it won’t lean!” or something like that ^^;

    Grats on the loots, I have yet to open my Yami lol. GSC figures are mostly good, after the trouble I have with Cyril, I ain’t spending any money on none brand name figures unless I am 100% sure they are good.

    • 13 T.I.P. 05/06/2009 at 18:08

      Seconded that. The only companies I’ll be buying from nowadays are Alter, GSC, Max Factory, and MegaHouse…maybe Koto as well, but that depends on the character. ^^

    “Unity May” is pretty but I don’t like the style of the figure. The idea to put to her LALA’s hat is funny.
    “Yami” is really magnificent and combined with LALA DE GSC, that makes a very beautiful duet! I don’t still know which of the 2 YAMI to buy… that of Alpha-Omega extremely original also and magnificently realized.

    • 15 T.I.P. 05/06/2009 at 18:10

      I put Lala’s hat on any figure that her hat will fit on. ^^;; It’s funny because she got a goofy looking hat. I’m thinking about getting the Alpha x Omega Yami as well…they got her in a really cute pose.

    Is Unity Mei only attached to her stand through that one leg? I really hope its ABS or else this figure will be prime pickings for leaning. I should start using Lala’s hat on other figures as well.

    • 17 T.I.P. 05/06/2009 at 20:37

      Yup, only attached on one leg with a metal rod that’s removable from the base AND her leg…I definitely hope they did a good job making this figure. Don’t want her falling from my shelf any time soon.

    GSC and Max Factory makes up almost 75% of my collection thanks to my ever growing figma family.
    The biggest hold back in getting Unity Meii is the space allocation I will need to display her.
    Still, it’s very very tempting. T_T

    • 19 T.I.P. 05/07/2009 at 15:06

      Unity Mei takes up a lot of space indeed. But you can always display it without her cape. ^^

      • 20 optic 05/10/2009 at 00:35

        True indeed but I kinda find that defeats the purpose because she looks somewhat incomplete. Just how I look at it off course.

        Speaking of her, Hobby Search has her in the bargain bin.
        My finger was soooooooooo tempted to click the cart button lol

    My Unity Mei experienced paint transfer from her cape to her arm. Any tips to solve that? T.T

    • 23 T.I.P. 05/11/2009 at 15:07

      Hmm…I haven’t noticed any paint transfer on mine. Sorry to hear that. But you can probably cut a piece of plastic and place it between her cape and her arm so it doesn’t transfer in the future.
