GSC Canaan

Canaan was the anime that had so much potential when the first episode rolled out last year with its action packed sequences that blew my socks off. Sadly, everything went downhill from thereon. It is quite fitting (and depressing) that Good Smile Company followed suit and produced a figure with the same qualities as the show itself. A figure that had so much potential, but the end product was never meant to be. Continue reading ‘GSC Canaan’

Brilliant Stage iDOLM@STER Azusa Miura Sunshine Yellow Ver.

Azusa Miura is the 7th idol to receive the figure treatment in MegaHouse’s Brilliant Stage Idolm@ster line of figures. To my disappointment, Azusa wasn’t released as a pair with another idol like her predecessors. Instead, MegaHouse released her in two colour variants — the one you see here and a purple version with bat motifs on her outfit. I opted for the sunshine yellow version because it fits in with the rest of the set. Continue reading ‘Brilliant Stage iDOLM@STER Azusa Miura Sunshine Yellow Ver.’

Alter Saber Alter -Maid Version-

Alter’s Saber Alter -Maid Version- is perhaps the best figure made to-date of this blonde beauty, even though she is dressed in her fan servicing maid outfit instead of her usual battle ready attire. Not that she can’t kick some ass with a mop and bucket. Continue reading ‘Alter Saber Alter -Maid Version-‘

GSC Black Rock Shooter

Good Smile Company’s Black Rock Shooter — the one that almost got away.  I had her on my pre-order list, dropped her, picked her up again, dropped her again, and picked her up once more.  One of the reason she was dropped twice is the fact that she was delayed one too many times.  The only reason that I picked her up (again) many times after is because she is one sexy figure.  Then, of course, I learned later that she’s a reincarnation of Hatsune Miku, which might have played a big role subliminally. GSC Hatsune Miku CM Ver.

Good Smile Company was one of the first figure manufacturer to capitalize on the popularity of Hatsune Miku, the mascot for Yamaha’s “Vocaloid” music synthesizer program.  Many companies followed suit soon after, but Good Smile Company’s Hatsune Miku remains as one of the most popular figure to be released for the Vocaloid diva — seeing two re-releases in 2009.  Their original release captured Miku’s charm without the robotic voice.  It couldn’t get any better.  Could it?

It did when GSC teased us with this Hatsune Miku commercial.  Soon after, they announced that she’ll be available for sale as a WonFes/Good Smile online shop exclusive.  Her price, surprisingly, is ¥1,000 lower than the regular release.  Lovely! Continue reading ‘GSC Hatsune Miku CM Ver.’

Alter Fate T. Harlaown -Shin Sonic Form-

Alter’s Fate T. Harlaown -Shin Sonic Form- created a lot of buzz in the figure world when she was announced.  Did she live up to the expectations?  Gorgeous sculpt – checked.  Lovely paint work – checked.  Dazzling details – checked.  Striking pose – checked.  Ginormous Zamber – checked.  Thigh highs – checked.  Alter’s Fate T. Harlaown takes awesome to a whole new level. Continue reading ‘Alter Fate T. Harlaown -Shin Sonic Form-‘

MegaHouse Queen’s Blade Alleyne

Alleyne -the Combat Instructor- is the latest gal from the Queen’s Blade universe to be released in MegaHouse’s Queen’s Blade line of figures.  I was sold immediately when I saw her promotional photos earlier this year and pre-ordered her right away because I love her character design.  Alleyne’s design is not cliché, the colour works well together, and her face looks simply stunning — adding up to one beautiful figure.  Do be advised that this review is NSFW!
