GSC Canaan

Canaan was the anime that had so much potential when the first episode rolled out last year with its action packed sequences that blew my socks off. Sadly, everything went downhill from thereon. It is quite fitting (and depressing) that Good Smile Company followed suit and produced a figure with the same qualities as the show itself. A figure that had so much potential, but the end product was never meant to be. Continue reading ‘GSC Canaan’

GSC Black Rock Shooter

Good Smile Company’s Black Rock Shooter — the one that almost got away.  I had her on my pre-order list, dropped her, picked her up again, dropped her again, and picked her up once more.  One of the reason she was dropped twice is the fact that she was delayed one too many times.  The only reason that I picked her up (again) many times after is because she is one sexy figure.  Then, of course, I learned later that she’s a reincarnation of Hatsune Miku, which might have played a big role subliminally. GSC Hatsune Miku CM Ver.

Good Smile Company was one of the first figure manufacturer to capitalize on the popularity of Hatsune Miku, the mascot for Yamaha’s “Vocaloid” music synthesizer program.  Many companies followed suit soon after, but Good Smile Company’s Hatsune Miku remains as one of the most popular figure to be released for the Vocaloid diva — seeing two re-releases in 2009.  Their original release captured Miku’s charm without the robotic voice.  It couldn’t get any better.  Could it?

It did when GSC teased us with this Hatsune Miku commercial.  Soon after, they announced that she’ll be available for sale as a WonFes/Good Smile online shop exclusive.  Her price, surprisingly, is ¥1,000 lower than the regular release.  Lovely! Continue reading ‘GSC Hatsune Miku CM Ver.’

MegaHouse Queen’s Blade Alleyne

Alleyne -the Combat Instructor- is the latest gal from the Queen’s Blade universe to be released in MegaHouse’s Queen’s Blade line of figures.  I was sold immediately when I saw her promotional photos earlier this year and pre-ordered her right away because I love her character design.  Alleyne’s design is not cliché, the colour works well together, and her face looks simply stunning — adding up to one beautiful figure.  Do be advised that this review is NSFW! Continue reading ‘MegaHouse Queen’s Blade Alleyne’

MegaHouse Brilliant Stage Taiga Aisaka

I got the chance to re-acquire this lovely  Taiga Aisaka figure from MegaHouse’s Brilliant Stage line during HobbySearch’s sale earlier this month.  I say ‘re-acquire’ because I had her on my pre-order list at one point, but dropped her after every figure on my pre-order list was delayed to August — the month this Taiga was released.  The funny thing is, I had my pre-order with HobbySearch back then; so this could be the very figure that I pre-ordered.  Instead of paying full price, I’m bought her for 60% off instead.  ^^v Continue reading ‘MegaHouse Brilliant Stage Taiga Aisaka’
